A foggy morning in Foxford. The river peaked at 0.92m last night and is now falling. With the fog it is difficult to tell but it seems coloured in Foxford. It will be suitable for spin and worm this morning and by afternoon it should be in reasonable order for a fly further upstream. This is not a big flood and i’m not expecting huge  numbers of fish running but it should move a few fish through the system and I have a feeling some of these will be a decent size. We had a local angler at the shop yesterday evening with his first Grilse of the season, a fish of about 4lbs.  Reports from the Loughs have been poor, anglers are seeing hatches of May flies and olives but very few fish moving to them. There’s a bit of heat coming in the next few days and i think this will liven things up on the trout front.
