Monday 05/08/2024

I don’t normally post anything on a Monday but just in case it might help someone I will give a quick report. We had a reasonable amount of rain yesterday evening and last night. We were trout fishing until 11pm and it was coming down heavy. We checked our measure at midnight and it was at 20mm or thereabout. At that point the rain had eased but the forecast was for heavy rain through the early hours of the morning. At 5am the rain woke me and it was heavy. Again it has eased and we have a mist at the moment. The river is rising now, it is at 0.7m at Ballylahan bridge. My gut is telling me that this rise is a result of the 20mm yesterday afternoon and that we will get a second lift in levels later this morning. I think by Lunchtime we will have a brown flood. I would imagine that it will be tomorrow or wed before it starts to come back into order. Ill keep an eye on it throughout the day and will post something here in the evening.

@15:45 It has been a nice afternoon here. The river did get second lift and is still rising at Ballylahan bridge. It should peak there in the next while and id say it will not go much over 1.2m.  By morning it should be falling nicely. I would expect the water to be coloured. The shop will be open at 8am
