A breezy morning and it looks like we will have some showers in Foxford today. We had some heavy showers yesterday and it was quite wintry at times. The river is creeping up but only a little, it will hardly be noticeable. I had two very conflicting reports from two good anglers yesterday. One fishes up stream on East Mayo Anglers and the other downstream on the Knockmore waters. The angler from East Mayo said there’s not a fish in the river while the angler from Knockmore said its full of fish. Both had examples of time spent fishing and fish caught or not caught. It goes to show that in Salmon angling a flexible approach is needed, one needs to be prepared to change location and method to suit the fish and conditions. I did have another report from an exceptionally good angler who said there’s good numbers of fish in Cloongee but they are hard to catch. I suggested he tries a different method, not sure he appreciated that 😂. Anyway, for today Prawn and spin will be the best methods and I would say that from Foxford downstream is the best area to be in.
