Shaping up to be a wet and windy weekend. The river is in good condition at the moment, it may creep up a few inches later today but will be ok. Spinning and Prawn downstream of Foxford, bubble and fly or Fly rod on East Mayo and Cloongee fisheries for today.
River Moy Updates
A wet morning in Foxford, heavy showers. Fishing was quiet yesterday with only a few salmon reported. A mixed forecast for the next while so we could see the river going up and down and generally unsettled conditions. For today spinning and prawn will be the best methods from Foxford downstream, bubble and fly will be worth trying on East Mayo and Cloongee fisheries.
A dry cool morning in Foxford. The river is now at 0.55m at Ballylahan bridge and is in good condition for all methods. Prawn should work on the fisheries downstream of Foxford. Anyone spinning is well advised to spin “Slow and low”getting their bait down to the fish.
As expected the river was creeping up yesterday and peaked at just under 0.7m at Ballylahan bridge. This has put a noticeable fresh drop of water through the system and it should move a few fish. The forecast is for some heavy rain in the west this morning. So far its a dull showery morning in Foxford. Spinning and worm will be the best methods today.
The river has crept up a few inches overnight (now at 0.42m at Ballylahan bridge) and will most likely rise by a few more inches as the day goes on. This will improve fishing in the next few days. Anyone spinning today will be in with a good chance of success.
A few showers promised this morning but these should clear as the day goes on. very few anglers on the river yesterday. The best report was of one angler hooking 3 salmon on prawn downstream of Foxford. Conditions are good for bubble and fly and prawn.
The river is at 0.32m at Ballylahan bridge and is in good condition for all methods. Fish were taken on prawn and bubble and fly yesterday. Most of last nights rain appears to have missed us so im not expecting any significant rise in levels. Normally at this time of year spinning works well and as soon as we get the next rise this will again be the case. Time to shine up some of those old spoons, put new hooks on and be ready 🙂
