A dry morning in Foxford. The river is now at 0.3m at Ballylahan bridge and is suitable for all methods. Although the recent showery weather has put a fresh hint of water through the system and fishing has improved we still need a proper flood. For today prawn will be the best method. It is worth a try with the fly upstream on East Mayo Anglers waters where I would be hopeful fish have moved recently. Over the weekend Foxford Salmon anglers have been holding a competition on their club waters, (the Waterkeepers cup), some fish have been caught and the winner will be announced in Guirys bar at around lunchtime today. There is also a Spey casting competition taking place today. We ourselves were involve in a trout competition yesterday, hence the shop was closed. Foxford Angling Club held the Mike Tiernan Memorial cup on Lough Conn which is a memorial for my son Michael. The competition was fished on a catch, photo and release basis and all anglers had good sport. I can happily report that P.J came third and I was the winner, Stephen Browne came second.
The shop is open from 8am to 12 Noon today and will re open 09.30 on Tuesday morning
