A dry morning in Foxford. Yesterday began with mist on the hills, this mist must have been heavier in places and by mid afternoon the river was rising further upstream. This caused some excitement and our phone was very busy with anglers making enquiries as to the state of the river. While the river did rise by a considerable amount upstream there was not enough water in the catchment to sustain the levels. By the time the water reached Ballylahan it had largely disappeared. Ballylahan peaked at 0.8m and is now at 0.72m. This flush of water through the system will move some fish but is not the flood we need to move fish from the estuary. It will have brought a lot of dirt with it and the water will be coloured. Today will be a day for worm and spinning.
