A bright, dry and slightly cool morning in Foxford. Certainly no sign of the rain that was promised!. The river is getting very low now 0.25m at ballylahan bridge. This is very good for the tidal beats of the Moy fishery as fish numbers will start to build up in the Ridge and Cathedral pools. Still fresh fish arriving in Foxford but I don’t think they will go much further upstream than the Cloongee fishery. East Mayo and further upstream needs rain. There was a good few anglers on the river over the weekend and although catches were not exceptional all reported seeing fish. When conditions were suitable bubble and fly was the most productive method. This will be the case for the next few days as well. I was speaking with Judd Ruane and he tells me that they are catching some beautiful sea trout on the Moy Estuary. His biggest problem has also been the weather conditions, to much wind. It will be a mixed week and when conditions are right fishing will be good. Its not great but its not impossible and lets not forget that a bad days fishing is better than a good day at work .
