“Rumours of my demise are greatly exaggerated”. I did have a few rough unexpected days in hospital and hence there was no reports for a while but I’m back and if I don’t choke trying to swallow the handfuls of tablets I’m on I should be ok. P.J was holding the fort and kept me up to speed on what was happening which on the salmon front was very little. Most anglers did not bother fishing. Things are changing, the weather has cooled down and so have water temperatures. East Mayo Anglers re opened yesterday and Cloongee fishery opens from this morning, the remainder will follow soon. I have not been up there but I would hope that while there were no anglers along the river banks in Clooongee that IFI have done some work on the paths and access in general. Perhaps they will post a few pictures on their social media, ill watch out for them. Although there are lots of salmon in the system I’m not expecting anything major to happen. There will be fish taken on bubble and fly, the prawn will also start to work. I would start watching out for the next proper flood after which fishing will improve.
