A mixed sky over Foxford this morning, a big black cloud with the sun breaking through now and again. it looks like we will have showers. The river is now at 0.33m at Ballylahan bridge and is suitable for all methods. I received an email last night to say that IFI are closing the Cloongee fishery because of high water temperatures. This is after less than a week of sunny weather while there is plenty of water for fish to run. I agree with fish welfare but this is some clown in an office that doesn’t know the first thing about the river making decisions based on absolute bullshit. A lot of people have said it already, it is past time for the Minister in charge to review this organisation. He is in Mayo this weekend so hopefully he will take a good look around and see the damage he is doing. For anyone that is going fishing today, the fisheries downstream of Foxford are all worth trying and all methods should work.
