A blue sky with a few patches of cloud over Foxford this morning, another hot day ahead. It looks like this good weather is with us up to the weekend at least. It’s not ideal Salmon fishing weather and productive periods are limited with early morning and late evening the best times. In between it would be a good idea to try other things, coastal sea trout fishing springs to mind. While the river is now at 0.3m at Ballylahan bridge, in and around Foxford it is holding a nice level. The rocks at the back of the town are just starting to show. Still plenty of water for fish to run and I would expect bursts of fresh Grilse especially in the late evening. The deeper water downstream of Foxford will be the best aera to try, although as I said a few days ago anyone with fishing booked on tidal beats will be in with a great chance of good sport in the next week or two.
