August already! and a dull morning in Foxford, it looks like we will have some drizzle. The wind has changed direction and is now North westerly. This will create nice conditions for bubble and fly, especially on the fisheries downstream of Foxford. Still very few anglers on the river but any that are have been reporting seeing good numbers of fish from Foxford downstream to the Canal in Ballina. Salmon no longer appear to lie in the ridge pool where recent negotiations with the seals seem to have failed. I was chatting with a friend from Ballina yesterday who told me that sadly a lot of regular Ridge pool anglers are no longer fishing the pool due to danger of competing with large hungry seals who have little regard for anglers and have total disregard for the traffic light system and thermal stress. We both agreed that it would make an interesting subject for the coming winter when I have a feeling the Minister will start to hear from the normally quiet anglers. Early next week we have some wet and windy weather forecast which, if we get it will have an effect on conditions. Its something worth keeping an eye on. If your lucky enough to be on Holiday at the moment, enjoy.
